Ways of giving

Support NJC’s highest priorities

There are many ways to make a gift to Neuchâtel Junior College. The Advancement Office can provide you with information about each option and its benefits, and which would best meet your needs and objectives.

Gifts to the school can be made as a one-time gift or pledged over a number of years – depending on the size of the gift and its purpose.

In addition, we encourage our donors to consider installment schedules that might allow them to make larger gifts over time. Gifts may be made monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or on a specific schedule identified by the donor.

Gifts of cash go to work right away to meet the fundraising priorities of the school and our students. Gifts may be made by cheque or credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express).

Gifts of Securities

The benefits of making a gift of securities were significantly enhanced through the May 2006 Federal Budget. Under the new taxation rules, gifts of appreciated securities are now exempt from the taxation of capital gains. Donors will no longer be taxed on the capital gains accrued on securities such as public company shares, bonds, mutual fund units and employee stock options, when donated to a registered charity such as The NJC Fund.

Under the new taxation rules, for example, if a person donates stock that was originally purchased for $400 and now has a fair market value of $1,000, they will receive a tax receipt from Neuchâtel Junior College for $1,000 and will not have to pay any tax on the capital gain of $600. We would be happy to provide personalized illustrations for your situation.

Gift of Securities

Securities may be transferred directly to NJC’s account by downloading and completing a Gifts of Securities form. Completed forms should be faxed to the Advancement Office at 416.368.0956.

Commemorative Gifts

The Commemorative Gifts Program at Neuchâtel Junior College has been created to give our alumni, parents and friends an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the achievements of family, friends and our faculty and staff.

Whether you are looking for a gift idea, want to say thank you in a special way to a current or former teacher, or wish to honour someone special, consider sending your message through an NJC honour gift. We will send your honouree a card, you will receive a charitable tax receipt, and you will both have the pleasure of knowing that your gift is helping Neuchâtel Junior College and its students.

Memorial gifts celebrate the lives of our loved ones and friends who have passed away, and provide a way to commemorate a special connection to Neuchâtel Junior College.
