The School
The Neuchâtel curriculum
Canadian and International students who attend Neuchâtel Junior College have the rare opportunity to enhance their secondary school education through international experience. Neuchâtel makes special effort to integrate travel into its curriculum in a variety of subject areas.
The academic year is divided into two semesters. Students are required to take no fewer than six and no more than eight credit courses during a full year program. Students at the College for only one semester may study a minimum of three courses and a maximum of four.
French language study at NJC
Though all classes are conducted in English, special emphasis is placed on French language study, a key difference that will allow students to acclimatize to their Swiss surroundings, and embrace their role as citizens of the world.
French is a mandatory component of the Neuchâtel curriculum, and is bolstered by organized student exchanges with local schools.
The school also offers tailored programming to support all levels of French language proficiency. A non-credit French Communication & Culture class (80 minutes per week) is offered to those students who are not taking a Grade 12 course or AP French, to boost their comfort and fluency. Bilingual students have the opportunity to fine-tune their accent and further expand their French vocabulary through student exchanges and conversing in French in the community daily.

NJC Students follow a rigorous pre-university program of study that allows students to follow these academic streams:
