The academic life of the school may be demanding, but it is certainly offset with a healthy dose of fun. The extra-curricular teams and clubs at Neuchâtel offer students ample opportunities to demonstrate their athletic, creative and social prowess. And, if students don’t find something to fire their imaginations at NJC, they well might at one of the local schools or town teams or clubs – a fantastic way to integrate into their adoptive home and languages!
Athletics
Those looking to flex more than just their intellectual muscles can join one of NJC’s sports teams. The sports vary from year to year, but typically include hockey, soccer, rugby, basketball, volleyball, and swimming.
Students can also take their exercise off-campus in the grandeur of their Swiss surroundings by rowing, sailing, riding, skiing and snowboarding, skating and hiking - or simply opt to use the excellent facilities at the Université de Neuchâtel.
Arts
Students of a more artistic bent can complement their academic schedules with Neuchâtel’s rich variety of clubs.
Students can explore their creativity in clubs such as film, drama, photography, yearbook and our campus newspaper, or physically through music and dance at the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Académie de Ballet nearby.
Leadership Opportunities
Becoming a student leader is one important step to cultivating valuable skills for the road ahead. Student leadership positions at Neuchâtel include initiatives such as the Foyer Executive and Committee, which organize student activities, and the Leaders Program that prompts students to take on a number of responsibilities around the school.
Students wishing to earn one of these positions must apply with selection completed by the end of September each academic year.
