Neuchâtel Junior College embraces its role in promoting and supporting student excellence in a variety of areas. Recognition of outstanding leadership and academic performance is recognized at graduation each June.
Named after the College’s founder, this highest award is given to the student who has contributed the most to the life and spirit of NJC and who reflects the academic and international objectives established by Mr. Wilde. The winner of this award is selected by both faculty and students.
Mme Albert DuPasquier (née Francoise Mauler) hosted NJC students in her home from 1956 until 1979. She passed away, aged 97, on July 27, 2009. Mme DuPasquier believed it was her responsibility to ensure that all her guests learned to speak French well. In 2011, her former students established this award in her honour. It is presented annually to the student who strives to learn the French language and makes great progress.
In addition to the awards outlined above, several Junior College awards are given for superior performance in particular subject areas as well as for extra-curricular activities. These include athletic, valedictorian, and other awards throughout all academic disciplines.
Neuchâtel Junior College offers the unique opportunity to study Canadian curriculum abroad. While living in Switzerland in a French community, students enjoy an international education through travel and experiential learning in Europe. Gap year and Grade 12 high school students gain international experience and develop independence and life skills that prepare them for university and the global workplace.
