A Lot Happens at NJC in Three Weeks

NJC Canadian Office
The Class of 2021 has had an extraordinary first month in Neuchatel! With lots of events and activities planned by NJC teachers and staff, our students have been busy and engaged both inside and outside of the classroom.  Scroll down below to see what they’ve been up to since arriving  in Switzerland!

Grindelwald (Orientation Trip #1)
For the first part of their Orientation, the student travelled to the Village of Grindelwald, located in the German speaking region of Switzerland. This mountainous region is the ultimate playground for adventure seekers, and our students enjoyed a wide range of activities including hiking, mini putting and challenging Alpine Games. The students got to experience the breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps, while getting to know their new classmates.

Locarno (Orientation Trip #2)
For the second part of orientation, the Class of 2021 headed to Locarno, located in the Italian region of Switzerland. On the northern shore of Lake Maggiore, this scenic town offers lots to explore!  Our students enjoyed guided tours of the surrounding areas, including the Brissago Islands with their stunning botanical gardens featuring 1700 different plant species.

The NJC School Year begins!
NJC students have already enjoyed a variety of activities, as well as some interesting field trips to surrounding areas. Extracurriculars began, and our Neuchies enjoyed sports by the lake including frisbee, soccer and running club- taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather. In-person classes are now in full swing, and students are enjoying  interactive assignments as well as  guest speakers such as Julie Normand (the Swiss-Canadian Consul) and Robert Johnson (European historian who will guide students on their upcoming trip to Germany this weekend). NJC’s student government -the Foyer Council- was elected, and its representatives are working hard to plan a fun calendar of events for the students, including a Thanksgiving banquet, spirit days, trivia night and coffee house.
