Robb & Marie; An NJC Love Story

Robb Heintzman ‘70

“In prehistoric times, students traveled to NJC by ship, from Montreal to Liverpool and then by bus, first to Oxford where we stayed for three days at Oriel College and then to continental Europe. The idea of course was to allow us to get to know one another better…and generally speaking…it worked!”

Robb and Marie Heintzman have been a staple in the NJC community for over five decades. As a legacy family, two of their three children attended NJC graduating in 1996 and 1999.  Robb had the pleasure of volunteering as a member of the Canadian Advisory Committee and was appointed Chair in 2003. Marie and her NJC roommate and dear friend Merilyn (Davis) McKelvey had the great pleasure of Co-Chairing the 50th Reunion in 2006 at the Liberty Grand in Toronto. Were it not for Marie and Merilyn it would never have happened. There were silent auctions, three bands, rooms celebrating NJC’s history and 1,800 people in black tie or equivalent. "It was an enormous undertaking…and I am not sure that Marie has yet forgiven me for asking her to take it on."
