U.S. Donations

With the help of FRISBE, United States tax-payers may now make donations to The Neuchâtel Junior College Fund with the added benefit of a tax receipt recognized by the Internal Revenue Service.
Neuchâtel Junior College has a loyal group of American alumni who donate regularly to the school. While Canadian tax receipts issued by NJC cannot be honoured if you are currently a United States tax-payer, you do have the option of making a gift eligible for an American tax receipt by making a contribution to Friends of Independent Schools and Better Education (FRISBE) and requesting that FRISBE make a grant to NJC.

Friends of Independent Schools and Better Education is a tax-exempt U.S. non-profit organization whose purpose is to “promote and encourage educational institutions that emphasize scholarship, sportsmanship, moral character and individual responsibility and initiative." As our parents and alumni know, these are all pursuits encouraged through attendance at NJC.

Directing a donation to NJC through FRISBE will provide you with an American tax receipt and the school will benefit from your philanthropy in whichever way you choose — whether that be through scholarships, bursaries, the Head of School’s Fund, our Endowment or the Campus Improvements and Infrastructure appeal.

If you would like to donate to Neuchâtel Junior College and would appreciate an American tax receipt, please consider sending a cheque payable to “FRISBE” requesting that FRISBE consider a grant to “The Neuchâtel Junior College Fund”.  All donations to FRISBE qualify for a tax receipt recognized by the Internal Revenue Service.

  • FRISBE MISSION STATEMENT

Friends of Independent Schools and Better Education (FRISBE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt corporation that promotes and encourages educational institutions that emphasize scholarship, sportsmanship, moral character and individual responsibility and initiative. We support the activities of such institutions principally through grant-making activities, which are funded by charitable contributions to us from the general public.

Individual contributors usually request that we make grants to specific educational institutions. All contributed funds are under the direction and control of our Board of Directors, and it is our policy not to accept any contribution that requires a grant to a specific institution. However, where a grant to a named institution will further our charitable purpose, the donor’s request will be honoured. Organizations which receive our grants must qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the internal Revenue Code of 1954.

The FRISBE Board of Directors meets twice a year to consider grants. At our March meeting, we consider grants based on the contributions we received between July 1 and December 31 of the prior year. At our September meeting, we consider grants based on the contributions we received between January 1 and June 30 of the current year. Because FRISBE is entirely managed by volunteers, we do not take any fees for our services.
