Sheelah Kolhatkar ’91

Sheelah Kolhatkar ’91 is a staff writer at the New Yorker magazine, and also the author of Black Edge: Inside Information, Dirty Money and the Quest to Bring Down the Most Wanted Man on Wall Street - a New York Times bestseller, published in 2017 by Random House.
Her favourite part of day-to-day Swiss life was the food – having raclette with her pension, the Cima family, and eating roasted chestnuts in downtown Neuchâtel are two of her most treasured memories of her time at NJC. Sheelah describes here year in Neuchâtel as intense and exhilarating and says that it helped shape her into a resourceful and professionally curious person – traits that helped her in her initial career as a hedge fund analyst, and today as a journalist. Today, her job requires her to navigate unfamiliar environments on a regular basis, and she credits her experience living abroad with NJC for helping her develop this survival skill.

Sheelah Kolhatkar currently lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and two children with whom she is happy to share her love of the French
language, developed during her time in Neuchâtel.
