Ms. Krista Ghanekar
BSc St. Francis Xavier University
MMath University of Waterloo
BEd University of Toronto
Ms. Ghanekar’s path to teaching was not, as we say in mathematics, exactly linear. After obtaining her Bachelor's degree in Science from St. Francis Xavier University and her Master's degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, Ms. Ghanekar worked in the computer industry in the area of quality assurance. For eight years, she worked at various software companies in the Waterloo and Toronto area, starting and ending with Hewlett Packard. Although her computer career was exciting and fast-paced, she decided to change careers and pursue her life long passion for education.
After completing her teaching degree at the University of Toronto, with a specialty in mathematics, Ms. Ghanekar taught mathematics and computer science to students in Grades 9 to 12 at Meadowvale Secondary School in Mississauga. Over her nine years at Meadowvale, Ms. Ghanekar was involved in all aspects of school life including coaching volleyball, supporting the Student Activity Council and running the University of Waterloo math contests.
Ms. Ghanekar is excited to have an opportunity to teach in Switzerland, a country that she has now called home for nearly two years. When she’s not thinking about mathematics and teaching, Ms. Ghanekar loves to work on improving her French, and loves travelling as much as possible to all corners of Switzerland and the rest of Europe.
