Mr. John Phillips

Guidance Consultant
BA / BEd Mount Allison University
John is excited to return to NJC as a member of staff for the third time - working as a University Guidance Counsellor in 2018-2019 and 2021-22.  John’s two daughters both attended NJC for a Gap Year in 2011-12 and 2015-16.

John was a Teacher, Head of Guidance, Vice Principal, and Principal over his 33 year career with the Halton District School Board.  Following his ‘retirement’ John embarked on an international school career with a stint at the International School of Penang (Uplands), in Malaysia, where he served as their Head of Pastoral and University Guidance lead, before joining NJC.

Throughout his career in education John has maintained a passion for helping students navigate their pathway planning and post secondary decision making process.  Over the years he has assisted students pursue (and receive offers of admission to) University interests around the globe.  Former students have matriculated to Princeton, Yale, Georgetown, NYU, and many other prominent, highly selective US universities; Edinburgh, LSE, St. Andrews, and others in the UK; and virtually every Canadian University as well.
